1,20,000 Doxycycline capsules were provided to the Department of Health and services and family welfare, Nagapattinam towards prevention of outbreak of cholera in the temporary shelters in Nagai district.

Bhoomika Trust is supporting The Banyan towards the construction of The Community Health Care Centre based at Kovalam. Kovalam being one of the coastal villages consists of more than 5000 people mainly involved in fishing. This centre will provide both basic physical health care and mental health care

The physical structure of the Centre spread over 3000 square feet will have:
 1.  A 12 bed in-patient facility (6 male and 6 female)
 2.  Observation room
 3.  Waiting area
 4.  Pharmacy
 5.  Wash areas
 6.  Doctors room
 7.  OP clinics
 8.  Day care centre
 9.  Community workers room
 10.  Community interaction space

Bhoomika Trust is supporting the construction of the following at The Community Health Centre:
 •  One General Out Patient consultation room measuring 255.75 square feet
 •  Community Interaction Space measuring 825.10 square feet

General Health Out patient clinic is conducted 3 days a week. A total of 718 people are attending general OP in Kovalam.

Special camps are also conducted periodically depending on health issues addressed. Camps are held on the last Saturday of every month.A diabetic camp was held in March 2006. A diabetologist and a dietician were present during this camp.

In September 2006, a paediatric camp was held. The stress was on breast feeding, healthy dietary practice and hygiene. In October 2006, a dental camp was held. Tips on brushing techniques and oral hygiene were given. A lot of women in the reproductive age group complain of tiredness, body aches etc. Anaemia was commonly seen among children and women in this age group. Hence an anaemia camp was held in November 2006. They were also given dietary counseling.
