The post-tsunami impact on the residents of affected communities, especially children, has been quite severe. Children who have seen the tsunami and have survived the tidal wave still have haunting nightmares. Their current needs are for recreational supplies and activities that volunteers can organize, and school supplies to supplement text books and uniforms being supplied by the government-such as note books, school bags, eating plates and tumblers, mats for mid-day naps, etc. Bhoomika has been providing such supplies to schools in the Nagai and Chennai areas. Many other organizations are involved in meeting the needs of affected children. Some of the well-known ones are listed below.
